Having Great Friends Around

Truly enough, keeping and maintaining good relationship towards one another is the main key to a lasting friendship or even in any relationship. We are lucky to have great friends around us. Just recently, our friends from Portland, Oregon made their fourth trip to us since we have moved in Texas. They were here for here for a week. It was just a blast!!!

Kevin managed to take sometime off from work which worked out very neatly. We went to San Antonio and spent couple of days there, then, Killeen, Austin and explored back in Dallas. And ohh, they brought us fresh from the boat-crabs in Oregon with some smoked tuna. It was just so delicious-one of the many things we missed about living in the great North West!

We definitely had a great time and can't wait to have them back soon!!!

Being Outside While It Lasts

After a hot, humid Summer, here comes the Fall. It's definitely the perfect time to be outside while it lasts. The temperature is so comfortable for walking, running or any outdoor activity-depending on what you're family is up to!

On our case, we love to be outside. I take my daughter out to the park, do some walking while pushing Cassy on a stroller, feed the ducks, take her to do play gym, to the library and so on. In the afternoon, when hubby gets off early from work at least before the sun sets; we would go outside again and do our routine running or even just brisk walking. It feels so good after you sweat up especially when some good endorphin starts to kick in.

Latest Update

It's been quite sometime since I had updated this blog. Just too many things going on and the time kind of slipped away. Truthfully, I got lazy updating this blog,too! The opportunities to write are getting rare, thus, motivation is hardly achieved. But anyhow, here I am.

I have been busy taking of my daughter. She will be turning two here soon-my halloween baby! We also had few trips outside Texas which was awesome. We had a blast of our Summer during our family get-together in Branson, Missouri. What a gorgeous place!! I appreciate the landscape as we drove since Texas is pretty flat. It was a nice drive! Of course, it was wonderful to see family and being able to spend time with them since we don't have much opportunity to do it often.

Yesterday, had to drop my husband to Houston since he was flying to Denver, Colorado for his friend's wedding. To skip the long details, it was cheaper to fly there than in DFW since hubby didn't get his ticket until the last minute. He would have wanted all of us to go by driving but I thought it would be easier having a 2-year old toddler. Moms out there could perfectly relate to that. So, Cassy and I are by ourselves for at least 6 days and 5 nights. Will pick up hubby at DFW on his way back!

Latest Adventure In Burger's Lake, Fort Worth

Thankfully, my dearest husband has a better work schedule these days! He's been working 4/10's and get 3 days off (which is really awesome!!!) Definitely, we are back on track now as far spending more family quality time and we just love it!!

As the hot temperature gets it's peak, we have been hopping water parks to cool off. One of our latest adventures was hopping in Burger's Lake which is located in Fort Worth, Texas!! It's a 30-acre park that features a one-acre spring-fed lake for swimming. They have two-sandy beaches which is great for sunning as well as wonderful big trees that offer shade. They have at least six-diving boards, a 20-foot slide and 25-foot trapeze. The entrance fee was $12.00 per person but it's worth it!! There's lots you can do and explore in there!! It's fun!!

We did some BBQ grilling and I also pre-made some food and a couple of sodas to go in the cooler, so we didn't have to spend much for our food and drinks. It's always wise to be practical, you know;-)

My sweet Cassy is pretty acquainted to the water and she sure loves to be in it!! I just can't seem to have enough whenever our family is all together!! The moment is just so precious and rewarding!!

Guess I Can Start Putting Her On A Potty Training!

My Cassy is definitely growing and learning each day. She's now able to deliberately express herself in so many ways. Like I could certainly tell when she has a poopy diaper and when she had to go because of her facial expression and a smell after wards. I know moms know this a lot.

As she was trying to go, she pointed her bottom and said Po-po to me. I told her to ask her dad to change her diaper. To our surprise, she went to her room and brought 2 pieces of diaper and a stack of baby wipes. Gosh, we're pretty amazed when she did it! I guess, little by little I can start putting her on a potty training.

I am just amazed how she's becoming to be a big girl each time! I am so proud of her but I can't stop myself from holding on to her infancy stage. I just think it came by too quick but definitely enjoying every milestone she had reached!

Longest Appointment!

Yesterday, we had one of our busiest days since Kevin and I had a back to back doctor 's appointments. I had mine at 9:30am and he's at 3:15pm. I decided to go by myself for my appointment as I didn't wanna bring Cassy (too afraid she'll catch something from sick people in the clinic). I was doing my routine papsmear and also my TSH lab work for my thyroid.

Mind you, it was the longest appointment I ever had to wait. My doctor had to be in the delivery room, so I had to wait for at least 2 hours to see her. Then, had my pap. and my laboratory test. It was probably my unluckiest day because the worst of all, when the technician had to draw blood from my veins, she had to repeat it twice just to get enough blood. Jeeeeeeeezz!!!!

Afterwards, I headed home and had lunch with my family together. Got Cassy's stuff ready and headed to Kevin's appointment. Luckily he got in and out very easily in Colleyville's clinic this time. I had to take Cassy for a short drive so she doesn't get bored waiting in the car.

Afterwhich, hubby asked if I wanted to go somewhere. I thought it's getting late and traffic got bad already, so we headed home and had dinner together. At least, we had all our doctor's appointments taken care of and able to spend time together.

Mother's Day Gift

Climbing Out Of Her Pack n Play

I thought this was one funny thing to share. When I visited Jo, I had Cassy in the playpen for her usual nap. Like her normal routine, I left her in the room by herself. Instead of taking a nap, she put up a fit and decided not to take one. It's quite understandable since it' was completely a different environment for her. She's not used to her playpen anymore as she sleeps in her crib.

But what so silly about my Cassy was, she managed to get out of the playpen. The next time I put her back on, she managed to get out quickly, say after a minute or two she was out. She must have mastered it by this time. I just thought it's hilarious and pretty amazing.

She's definitely becoming a big girl, learning and figuring different things on her own. My dilemma would be, where to put her to sleep when we go to Branson, Missouri this Summer... Hmmm.. We'll figure something out for this girl...

Weekend Happenings

It's high time to update this blog really. Better do this now while I have a little motivation and see how it's gonna go;-)

Anyway, I had a wonderful weekend with my family! The typical Saturday was cut short since hubby had to go to work. When he arrived home, we enjoyed a hearty dinner all together (myself, Cassy and Kevin). That Saturday night, we went out with our good friends to celebrate May Ann's 28th birthday. We headed to Glass Cactus, Gaylord Texas in Grapevine. Fortunately, there was enough time for us to figure out a babysitter for Cassy which is really great-gave us some time (Kevin and I) to do stuff together. That was a real blast!!!

On Sunday, we had a birthday invitation with one of our friends kid-Oliver (who celebrated his 7th birthday) in Newark! He had a big birthday party, packed with bunch of kids and adults, too!:-) My sweet Cass had too much fun playing with her toddler friends like Zowie and other kids. It's so much fun watching them!

Like the usual, too much food to eat and endless conversation! I thought I'd mentioned that the theme party was Spiderman which was really neat-kiddos enjoyed jumping over trampoline and bounce house! I myself had to try and it sure felt like I was a kid.;-)

Afterwhich, we headed home and just enjoyed some quite time together with our family!! That's how our weekend was spent. Hope y'all had a great weekend, too!

Another Fun Weekend

The weekend seems to go by quick. So glad that hubby has a day off today (Monday) since he put extra hours last week. Anyway, it's been a wonderful weekend. We went to one of our friends get together (Novielyn and Ronald's house) on Saturday to join the welcome party for Novie's parents and their daughter Zowie whose 18 months old (a month older than Cassy).

It was just a fun time, as usual too much food to eat and marathon "chikka2x". I didn't have my camera in handy, so no pictures at this time. Anyway, I am happy for Novie and Ronald to be reunited with their daughter and family after 5 months. Novie petitioned her parents and their daughter Zowie went home to P.I. with her grandparents for a vacation.

In a way, I am a little envious (who isn't?) but definitely happy for their family. Actually, they even worked for awhile before they decided to spend a vacation to P.I. Good for them!!!

I honestly can't wait until I can bring my parents here,too and realize our long-term plans for our family. Because until then, I wont have a peace of mind leaving my daughter to a day care or to anyone.. I will just have to push back our plans like possibly going back to school or going back to work. It's tough to be alone.. I am sure a lot of Filipinas (who have a child or children) can relate to this very well. Evidently, meeting other fellow kababayans help a lot in the continous coping from homesickness and missing loved ones back home.

I am just very happy at my disposition right now. I have such a kind, loving and understanding husband. He always puts his family on top of everybody nor anything else. I just can't help not to tell the whole world how great this man I was married to;-)

Her Infancy Stage

Our Friends Are Coming!

I just got a call from our friends in Portland,OR and it's confirmed that they will be here sometime in April! Kevin and I are so thrilled to see them again. Another Nice Weather

Another nice weather out here in N. Texas with a high of 70F. With this up and down weather, the best thing to do is to really make the best out of it. Cassy enjoyed the swing a lot that wore her off and later on, took her short nappy on her stroller.

Icy Road And Most Offices Are Closed Today

When I woke this morning, I noticed the ground seems to be icy and sleet making it almost impossible for a lot of commuters to be safe on the roads. The news scoop said that Texas doesn't get this kind of weather usually in the winter season, most roads are not even well-maintained, making it very risky to be on the road. They said from the website that Biometrics centers (ASC) are privately contracted, though supervised by USCIS staff. So, they probably don't want to deal with a lot of phone inquiries. I have the USCIS # but it's all automated and it's impossible to get a hold to any customer service representative.

I will try my luck tom and see if they could accomodate me since it's on appointment basis only. Wish me luck!:-)

Nicer Days For Winter Season

The cold front is definitely in the air in most places. Although today in N. Texas, another great surprise when the sun rose bringing a somewhat fall temperature of 78F for the high. I took my daughter out for a walk in the park and just had a great time outside. How wonderful it is really to be blessed by such a warm, nice temperature. I definitely appreciate to be in a warmer place right now.

For almost 2 weeks that our folks were here, it's always a festive and fun ambiance. I was very comfortable and happy to have them around. They're very kind and generous people. I feel so at ease with every one of them. I am just very glad to be a part of this beautiful,warm family! By the way, it had been our 2 consecutive year spending the holidays all together. I can't wait to have them back and I really miss them!

If we have time, I’d also love to take her to the Titanic Museum. I would like to look at some of the artifacts. It's also part of the plan to visit the Theatre District and Lake Taneycomo. I bet the lake would be beautiful at that time of the year. I also hear there’s great fishing in that lake. I heard that there are lots of great things to enjoy in this relaxing place. Although I still have a couple of months to wait before we can go. I am just glad that I will be able to visit this beautiful and wonderful place for the first time. I can't stress enough my gratitude to Jo for inviting us and saving me from the long line of waiting in the mall just to grab a photo with Santa. I definitely wanted Cassy to have a photo with Santa as this is her 2nd Christmas. Since she was only a newborn back then, i didn't manage to get her one. But this time, she finally has a photo souvenir with Santa. Well actually, I took several photos of her and Santa. Even got a family photo with Santa, although still have to ask Jo for the copy.
