Basically, it only takes four steps to do your holiday shopping using Kmart Layaway. First, you select your favorite items. Bring them to the Layaway counter and you make a down payment. You can make your payments every two weeks at your Kmart store. Then, of course you can take home your items once your payments have been completed. It's just that easy. So, you don't have to worry of paying for your items in one time through the layaway program.

A Layaway contract is eight (8) weeks. The service fee on all new Layaway contracts is $5. While the cancellation fee on all new Layaway contracts is $10. The service fee plus cancellation fee, or 10% down payment (whichever is greater) is collected when merchandise is put into Layaway. The bi-weekly payment schedule for all new Layaway contracts is 25% of the original
balance due. As long as the payments are made on time, the merchandise will be held for you.

Layaway merchandise will be returned to stock seven (7) days after a missed payment. If Layaway merchandise is returned to stock, you are eligible for a refund minus service and cancellation fees for a one year period. There are items that do not include in the layaway such as beer, wine, cigarettes, flammable products, fuel, food, horticulture, live plants, chemical based products, photo finishing, portrait studio pictures and other perishable merchandise.
